NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) Serving Melbourne South East, Darwin and the NT Regions
Live Independently with the Right Level of Support
At Your Life Your Choice Care Services, we understand the importance of feeling safe, comfortable, and in control in your own home.
Supported Independent Living (SIL) offers NDIS participants the day-to-day support they need, while promoting greater independence. Whether you live alone or with others, our SIL services are tailored to your routines, values, and cultural identity, never a one-size-fits-all approach.
We work closely with you and, if you choose, your family or support coordinator, to build a personalised plan that respects your goals and fits your lifestyle.
We don’t just show up. We show up with heart, consistency, and genuine understanding.
What SIL Support Can Include
SIL can help you with:
Daily personal care — showering, grooming, toileting, and dressing
Meal support — cooking, eating, or managing nutrition plans
Household tasks — laundry, cleaning, and other daily chores
Medication management — reminders or assistance with health routines
Support during medical or therapy appointments
Social and community engagement — help getting involved in your interests
Overnight or 24/7 support — when your plan requires it
Behaviour support implementation, if needed
Every plan is created together with you. Your preferences, safety, and comfort are always our top priority.

Who is SIL For?
SIL is suited for NDIS participants who:
- Need regular help with daily tasks and routines
- Live in shared housing or want to move into supported accommodation
- Require consistent supervision or overnight care for safety
- Want to build independence and life skills
- Have physical, cognitive, intellectual, or psychosocial disabilities
We specialise in supporting participants from remote areas, Aboriginal communities, and culturally diverse backgrounds, ensuring your care feels personal, not just professional.
What’s the Living Environment Like?
SIL can take place in:
- A shared home with other participants
- Your own home or a family residence
- A supported housing arrangement (e.g. combined with SDA)
At YLYC, we ensure your environment suits your needs and that you feel comfortable both with your living space and the people around you. If you’re sharing, we carefully match housemates based on compatibility, goals, and support needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Supported Independent Living
Will SIL pay for my rent and utilities?
No. SIL funding only covers the cost of your support staff. You’re still responsible for rent, food, and everyday living expenses.
Can I choose who supports me?
Yes. Your preferences guide how we build your team. You’ll have the chance to meet and choose who works with you.
I live in a remote area. Can I still get SIL?
Yes. We provide services across the NT and South-East Victoria and are committed to reaching underrepresented and rural communities.
